What you think when you hear about oil field jobs? Is the high pay and bonuses? "The opportunities for travel? What you have to work only for half of the year? But before you jump in the deep end with both feet, you should remember that there is no free lunch. Here are four big problems with oil field work.

1. Hours malĂ­simas

The work in oil field have hours lousy. You have to work shifts, and the last 12 hours of each shift. The grief betide you if you get assigned the night shift. Besides that, there weekends off, especially working in an offshore oilfield. For most of the oil field work, that's 2 weeks of work, 12 hours a day, before you get a break. This is not a time for the faint of heart.

2. Disintegration of the union

The disintegration of the union workers are common in oil field work. Many women still expect their husbands to come home in the evening after work, and are around the house during the weekends. Unless they have parents and brothers who also work in oil field work or live in a community of oil workers, the stress of handling poisonous gossip neighbors jealous of any relationship.

3. Danger

An oil field work pays double the salary of many other industries. Why? Because working in an oil well is dangerous compared to working in a factory or a warehouse. There is the fact that the drilling rig would blow up, or offshore oil platform could crumble or sink, not to mention that they are often popular targets of the terrorist, as oil workers in third world countries can attest . The extra money you earn is not a windfall, it is hazard pay.

4. Inhospitable environments

The use of the oil field is usually found in places with extremely inhospitable environments - Alaska, northern Canada, Siberia, the deep oceans, several Arab and African deserts. You can not expect to find oil in their own backyard findings more easily - like the Texas oil wells no longer to exist. By working oil field work, you need to deal with subzero temperatures, winds of gale-force, of ice, snow, poisonous snakes and wild animals.

The use of the oil field is not all roses. The rewards you get are the best regarded of the danger pay, and compensation for the risks you take. But for a man strong enough to stick it out, an oil field work can be satisfying - a man who does a job that kids can not handle.
